THE STAR CHILD (Book by Jenny Stafford; Music by JF; Lyrics by Sarah Underwood): Based on Oscar Wilde's short stories, this fun-filled family musical follows Mattan, who believes he is the most beautiful boy the world has ever seen. But when he becomes so self-centered and cruel that a witch takes his beauty, he must go on a journey to get it back, and learn to see beauty through the eyes of others. Staged at the French Woods Festival for the Performing Arts. August 2012. Directed by Ryan Jacobs.
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S TWELFTH NIGHT (Original Text by William Shakespeare; Music and Lyrics by Conly Basham and JF): Viola and Sebastian have been separated by a shipwreck. Arriving in a foreign land and thinking the other is dead, both set out on a journey through a series of comedic misadventures, cross-dressing, and inexplicable feelings of love and loss. This classic Shakespearean comedy of mistaken identities and gender-confused courtships has been given a new female-empowered folk-musical vibe. Originally staged with a co-ed cast under Essential Theatre in NYC at the Tank Theatre. December 2013. Same production was revived at New York International Fringe Festival. August 2014. Original production directed by Tony B. Lance. All-female production Coming Soon!
EXCUSE ME! (Book and Lyrics by Kate Chadwick; Music by JF): Excuse Me was a song cycle that looks at the daily human interactions happening on the streets of New York City. We're rushed here. We're loud and we're mean, but are we really? What happens when we say "Excuse me" to someone? Sometimes we brush it off, but sometimes there are a few minutes that take us by surprise. And isn't that wonderful? Staged as part of the NYSP Presents series, in conjunction with the University of California, Irvine. April 2017. Directed by Myrona DeLaney.
BUTTERFLIES (Book and Lyrics by Kate Chadwick; Music by JF): Butterflies is the story of Jessica, a former dancer who has been shaped by the disciplined world of ballet and her complex relationship with her teacher, Miss Yvonne. When the adult Jessica learns of Miss Yvonne’s death, she is sent into a tailspin of memory, recalling her dreams, her friendships, the performances, the competition, and the female role models that made her who she is. In short, it’s a show about two days: the day Jessica stopped dancing, and the day she remembers how to dance again. Read at Barrington Stage Company, Pittsfield, Massachusetts. August 2017. Directed by Graciela Daniele.
THE ALIEN LOGS OF SUPER JEWELS (Book and Lyrics by BK Bradshaw; Music and Lyrics by JF): The Alien Logs of Super Jewels is a story focusing on a 13-year-old girl named Jewels, who was born with Aspergers Syndrome, as she flashes back on her adventures and misadventures from "Kinderprison" all the way to "Muddle School", as she looks for clues to what sets her apart from the other kids. Could she be an alien? A superhero? Or something totally different. With a kid-friendly pop-rock score, this musical will explore the confusing - and sometimes hilarious - world of social expectations as Jewels' journey will take her to some unexpected places, where she just might find a little bit of herself along the way. Coming Soon!
